Small children and infants are not able to determine that they might have sinned against God. They must be able to believe in Christ, John 8:24 "I said therefore to you, that you shall die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." That is something that a small child or infant can't do. They must repent Luke 13:3 "I tell you no, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish." children can't repent of what they don't know. They must confess Jesus Christ, Rom. 10:9 & Phil. 2:11 "and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father." they can't confess if they can't even talk right. All young children know is how to please or get attention from mommy and daddy. Young children then can't make a start in the gospel of Christ.
The starting point for us, is at our acknowledgement of our deficiency in the Gospel of Christ. We are mature enough to see and understand what we have done wrong. We are able to understand what God through Jesus Christ has done for us. We are old enough to stay on the journey down the Gospel road without hesitation or question.
Finishing after starting is very important. What does it take to finish what we start? I'm reminded of the bridge to nowhere. It seemed to be an unfinished part of a seemingly forgotten highway. It had been sitting unfinished and weeds were growing up on the approach ramp almost as big as trees. I think I heard of them finally finishing it but after something like ten years or more sitting unfinished. Or the road to nowhere was the same situation. The state or county started a road but didn't finish it for over twenty years. How many times have we passed by an unfinished house in the country? It will sit without siding or that room will still have the studs covered in plastic. It stays unfinished so long that the plastic starts to deteriorates. All these are people who were waiting for funding or time.
In some cases the owners or managers of the project may be heard to say why finish it? Why indeed finish what you have started? After all, we don't really
