Concerning Bob Russell and the Southeast Church

March 11 2004
Dear Friends:
We, at the Community Christian Church of Christ in Roanoke VA, have just recently received our "Conference News" from the South East Christian Church in Louisville KY. In receiving this we see that we, in the Restoration Movement cannot muster the manpower to train and "Equip the Saints," in matters of the church, ourselves. We need outside sources, from the denominations especially the Baptists, because we can't do it ourselves. We apparently don't have the ability to train and teach, so we have asked for outside help. Not to mention that we have had and still have some of the brightest people in the country in our brotherhood, including presidents and college professors.

Bob Russell has called several speakers to this Leadership Conference to speak. Among which is a woman who is said by Chuck Colson to be "The liveliest and most effective communicator in the world today". She is a keynote speaker for Billy Graham conferences. Then there is, what appears to be, a secular training and development speaker. The best one is the Dr. who serves as president of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville. With this line-up you can't loose, or so it seems
We need these speakers from the outside because I have heard some of our guys speak. They don't have enough jokes and they rely on the Bible too much. Their dry presentations just bore people to death.  We need to liven it up a bit with exciting motivational speakers that stir and encourage. Never mind that there will be false doctrine and no doctrine included in the seminar. After all, what we are after is
Interdenominationalism  isn't it? We need to unite with the denominations to keep from getting too far off of the religious mainstream. The Bible way isn't good enough because we aren't reaching enough people looking for "The Right Church."
Give me a break! This is a Baptist Church in disguise. We cannot go to this or any other conference like this for any other reason than to try to win a few souls . Interdenominationalism  won't save from the pit. We need to take to the narrow road that avoids the pit by a wide margin, not skirting the pit just narrowly missing falling in, maybe. Lets go by what Jesus and His Apostles said not by what the Baptist or seculars say. I believe in the Bible not  Interdenominationalism.    Bob Russell has pictured himself as a coach calling his players into the game. With a coach like that who needs an opposing team. This year there have been a number of turnovers in ball team coaches.  Maybe the same should happen at South East. I'm sure the rest of the staff at South East would not agree with me. After all  "as long as we believe we're all going to heaven just by different methods." You're just as saved if you pray through as if you just believe. It's just that you won't have the blood if you don't get baptized; you'll just be in heaven with God without the blood. How far out do you want to go is as far out as it gets with denominationalism.
It's decision time across the country.  Most of you are painfully aware of what is transpiring in the church. Please warn others of this false doctrine called  Interdenominationalism  and the pitfalls that lurk in the path.  I really do appreciate the teaching I have gotten from those within the brotherhood and would not accept nor trust outside input. People like this, somehow, don't quite believe the whole Bible. They aren't convinced that the doctrine has been established and is irrefutable. They have to mingle doctrines and find what suits the people for the largest turnout. They still feign allegiance to God and His Son Jesus Christ but secretly plan to do whatever it takes to fill the house. After all "they can always be told the truth after they get in and are comfortable inside." I know there are the faithful. Please keep up the good work for the Lord and the truth of the gospel.
With Love in Christ

I couldn't help showing the Southeast reference to baptism, below. This would fit many denominations.

"The act of baptism cannot save an individual. We are saved only through accepting Christ's sacrifice on the cross. Baptism demonstrates the believer's acceptance of Christ and is the point of time when the believer receives assurance of his or her faith. Those who were never baptized by immersion but were sprinkled for baptism as infants rest in God's merciful hands. We hope that Jesus will say to any person who has truly submitted to him but was not taught about immersion, "Your faith has saved you." Yet someone who understands Christ's command to be baptized and refuses to obey should not consider himself to have submitted to Christ."

Eternity will show the errors man has made in attempting to appeal to the masses. God deals with the remnant. The above comments on their web site are not sound doctrine. Be of sound doctrine in the Lord!
