Elect a worthy candidate.
By Art Irvine
With election day 2008 coming upon us I want to urge you to choose a candidate that would exemplify Christian values. There have been enough people in the office of president that have not looked to God for knowledge, strength, character and a moral compass. We can only look to the last decade for someone that was floundering in his moral and spiritual corruption. I would agree that most, if not all, people that aspire to the office have some flaw of some kind. When we find someone that is a cut above the rest (so to speak) why don't we recognize him as a good candidate? Why can't we start with a candidate that has a proven moral and spiritual track record? God doesn't care if a fellow wants to have a flat tax or a round tax or a graduated tax. He wants someone that wants to serve Him so that He can bless, not only him, but the whole country for its choice of a Godly man. How can we say we love God when we don't look for a man that will serve Him to serve us? I don't want to get myself in trouble here on this web site and get kicked off of the server by endorsing candidates, being a religious web site. I think you know who I mean and who is best for the office. God cannot bless this country with elected officials that stand against the unborn or with the homosexual, not to mention all of the other moral issues. I believe God will bless this country when we make a move (not just a sound) toward serving Him. You know that the one that wants to serve God will also try his hardest to serve all of the people of this country with love and a better understanding of what should be done. He is less likely to have his finger in the air testing the way the wind is blowing, so to speak. So far this country seems to be undecided as to whether it wants to be liberal or conservative. There is a difference between them and we need to know that a person may be one or the other. Let me remind you of the differences between conservative and liberal.
Conservative: A person who stands on the principles of the Constitution of the United States as they were written. This person is more likely, but not necessarily, to be morally and socially conservative (that is they don't want to see, and stand against, the tide of moral corruption that has swept the nation of late) and fiscal conservative (that is, stand for tightening up our financial belts, spending only where it is needed and counts). These people are more likely, but not necessarily, to be religiously motivated.
Liberal: A person that is looking for change. The changes are often outlined, such as more spending on welfare issues (thus necessarily raising taxes). They are looking for change in the moral climate in the country such as, but not limited to, eliminating "homophobia" and making abortion free and easy. These people will not usually be motivated by religious thoughts except for the notion that all you need to believe about God is that He is love. Obedience does not get much airtime in liberal circles.
Lets choose a man of God not a man of the hour for our next president. A man that will not bend with the pressure to compromise his or our integrity. A man that does not blow in the wind of the political tide. I would that the Church of Christ/Christian Churches had a man to enter the race and do well. Written 2/5/08
