Remembering
I wasn't here to see the old church building. I would like to borrow a good picture of the old building. I'll bet there are those around who still remember it. They remember having worship services and some good times in fellowship in the old building. I have had some memories of good times in my past also. I had summer camps that were a lot of fun and fellowship with Christians that seem to be just a fading memory. I have fond memories in an old building that isn't standing anymore. A new building took its place and I can never go back to that old building. I had to start making new memories in the new building still remembering the old one. We seem to be at that place at the Community Christian Church of Christ. We have a new building and a new preacher to make new memories with. We can't go back but we can remember. We can't reach into the grave and bring back relatives and friends that have gone on before us but we remember them. We can't erect the old building to reminisce in now. Let us press on to new memories and new friends. We could use your support in that. No, we're not running out of money and we're not having problems ministering to the congregation. We're having a problem having old friends and members of the congregation in the area but not seeing them for a while. We hope they are not just old memories. Melvin Dudley says, "Come on back!" Please contact us and let us know what will help in your return to the fellowship of the Community Christian Church of Christ. I hope we can help in some way.
We have been studying Romans in the worship service. In chapter one we started with the basics in learning that there are two sides, righteousness versus unrighteousness and faithfulness versus unfaithfulness. In chapter two we saw that we need to judge righteously between our brothers. Righteous judgment, among other things, involves a fair hearing of all parties involved. In chapter three we learned that no one is righteous before God but we can all have the salvation given by Jesus Christ on the cross. What category do you fit into? Can you say your judgments have all been righteous judgments? If we can never be righteous before God then we need to hold onto the one that makes us righteous, Jesus Christ and His church. Hebrews 10:25-26 says "not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more, as you see the day drawing near. For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins." That thought scares me, how about you? I can see the day drawing near and there are so many who don't care. Actually for each one of us the Day of Judgment could be today or tomorrow. We haven't been given tomorrow. We cannot explain away our sin to a righteous and holy God if we haven't been faithful to Him and His Church. After we die then comes the judgment. Being attentive to our earthly possessions is admirable but we need to be attentive to our spiritual possessions. Eternity is too long to spend wishing we had. We will continue to study Romans in our worship service. Please come and be attentive to the Word of God.
I have visited several of you but I do not have time in my schedule to get to all the communities in the area. If you would like a visit from the minister please call or write to make an appointment, I would be glad to visit.
Note: I will be putting out an appeal for support for our ministry to several congregations that we feel are better able to provide support. If you don't get a letter but would like to support this ministry please feel free to contact us. We welcome any support from our friends and friends of
